Level 7 - Sacred Lake

Note: this level and the two previous ones are played as a single section - you will pass between them as the quest unfolds. If you follow this walkthrough you will pass through each section twice. Immediately below is the walkthrough for first time. Click here to jump to the walkthrough for the second time...

Climb out of the shallow pit and go through the door on the left to an outdoor area. Just ahead of you there is a small medikit on a block, but as you head for it take care to avoid being eaten by a rapidly approaching crocodile. Having picked up the medikit check up the dark area at the dead end nearby. Two bats fly out as Lara approaches but there's no treasure inside.

Climb onto the rocks by the pool and hang around for a few minutes for a second crocodile to swim into view. Take it out and then do some exploring. We'll be checking out the crawlspace in the corner much later on, so when you're done it's time for Lara to take a swim...

Head to the far side of the pool and climb out onto the sandy beach. This may be easier said than done if the two crocodiles prowling around in the water get near to you, but they're not too difficult to stay clear of and you can kill them when you're on dry land.

Note the closed gate in the the building in the middle of the pool and then set off along the beach around the pool until you get near a greenish stone entranceway. Kill the two bats that are living in the dark inside and then go to the back wall and drop down the hole in the floor below the buring torch. There are two other holes here - one fatal and one allowing you to return to the pool via an underwater passage to try again.

Walk through the dimply lit chamber until you can see a climbing pole in the distance. Walk down to the lowest step in front of it and then step off the edge and slide down the ramp. Climb up the pole until Lara's head is at the same level as the carved struipe in the wall ahead (just above the two carved figures). Turn Lara through a complete revolution around the pole and note a second pole nearby.

Turn Lara so that the second pole is directly behind her and then backflip off the first pole to the base of the second. Climb up the second pole and backflip onto a small ledge. Go through the crawlspace here to a room next to another indoor pool and pull the chain that you find here. This opens the gate in the building in the centre of the main pool and releases at least one crocodile.



Return to the pole room and descend the second pole. Jump to the longer one and descend that too. Drop into the small hole nearby and slide into a pool. Turn around in the pool to see a passage beneath the slope you just slid down. Swim down it and pick up a small medikit. Swim back into the pool, pick up some flares from the floor and then head out through the underwater passage until you reach the bottom of a deep well shaft.

Swim up the well shaft to the surface and then head for the side of the large pool and climb out - there are crocodiles about! If no crocodiles are immediately visible, do a careful search of the pool and the area near the beginning of the level. There could be several around and there are definitely more inside the building in the centre of the lake.

When the area outside is clear of reptiles, swim into the building in the middle of the lake, climb out and kill any remaining animals. Then pick up a small medikit and 2 boxes of shotgun shells from the ledges around the room. Dive back into the water and look for a lever underneath the overhang between the ledges. Pull it to open a small trapdoor in the bottom of the lake (there is also a larger opening in the bottom that leads to a bared passage).

Swim down through the trapdoor you just opened and continue until Lara comes to a closed door. Open it and the return to the pool to surface for air. Return to the passage and swim through the door into a passage that has partially collapsed. Providing you don't get tangled up in dead ends and the jagged rock walls you should make it to a junction where you can swim ahead or to the right. Swim right and enter a room with a low vaulted roof where you can surface for air and pick up a large medikit.

Return to the passage and at the junction take the other fork (to the right now) and enter a room with a huge mirror on one wall. Looking in the mirror you can clearly see that there is an opening in the ceiling of this room that you cannot see normally (looking in the mirror, it's on the left). Facing the mirror, swim Lara into the opening and surface.

Climb out of the water onto a ledge and follow the passage to a room with another canpic jar on a pedestal. Take the jar and the two sets of Uzi ammo on the floor. You'll see a vision of a gate opening in the underwater passage below the building in the middle of the main lake. Return to the mirror room and then swim back down the collapsed passage to the pool. Surface for air and then dive into the larger opening in the bottom of the pool and swim forwards until the current takes hold of you and pulls you into the next level.

Level 10 - Sacred Lake (2)

You emerge from the tunnel in a new area: in front of you is a small lake with two obelisks on an island. There are scorpions all around - kill three before starting to relax. With the sands purged of insects you can dive into the pool and retrieve a box of shells and a small medikit in an underwater alcove opposite the shells.

Back on dry land, head to the right of where you entered this area and find the hole in the ground. Drop down and crawl through the crawlspace until you emerge in a hallway high enough to stand up. Pick up the flares here and kill the scorpion. Continuing on will bring you back to daylight in the first level of the sacred lake - you don't want to do that, so turn around and return to the small lake.

In the inventory, combine the sun disk and the sun goddess to make the sun talisman. Swim to the island with the obelisks and use the talisman at the small pointy object between the two obelisks. This releases the electrical charge of the obelisks, which is aimed at the four doors around the edge of the lake - they open as the Sun Talisman is raised into the air.

The door to the north contains a crawlspace with a small medikit inside. The east door is a dead end. The south door leads to a climbing pole - take a diagonal standing jump from the doorway and catch hold of the pole. Climb nearly to the top and turn so that Lara's back is towards the ledge. Backflip to the ledge and pick up the flares.

Take a standing jump from the ledge to the pole and grab hold. Slide down to the bottom and pick up the Uzi clips on the bottom of the pool. There are two underwater passages leading off this pool - on one side is a box of shotgun shells and on the other is a box of wideshot shells and a small medikit. Near the medikit is a square door: position Lara near it and press [action] - she'll open the door and you've found Secret #1. Swim through the door and through two narrow openings. Surface to retrieve wideshot shells, a large medikit and explosive arrows from the pedestals in the room.

Return to the tiny pool and climb up the pole to backflip onto the ledge at the top. From here take a running jump to the entrance ledge and head back out to the pool with two obelisks. Now head through the last (west) door to a room with huge pillars. On the left side of this, about halfway down, is a raised alcove containing shotgun shells, Uzi clips and a small medikit.

Return to the floor and head into the middle of the room. There's an angled square block here, which you can climb onto from a lower block nearby. From the top of the taller block jump up and grab the handholds in the ceiling. Start swinging along the handholds towards the opening in the wall at the far end of the room. The hole is a bat cave and there not keen on your approach! As soon as you hear them squeaking, drop to the floor and take a few shots at them.

Now head back to the pillar, climb up and jump for the handholds again. Head back towards the bat hole and get right close up against the wall. Let go of the handholds and then immediately grab hold of the edge of the hol as you drop. Crawl into the opening and head up the ramp. At the top are two crawlspaces: the one on the left contains some Uzi clips whilst the one on the right is your way out of here.

Take a running jump across the wide gap to grab the ledge opposite. Pull up, cross the ledge and drop into the next room, watching out for the openings in the floor. You are now in the upper level of the room with huge pillars. Turn left and take another running jump to grab the edge of the opening with the sloping, pink ledge. Pull up and kill two bats that home in on you.

Hop down into the room beyond and then safety drop into the room below - using the ledge in the corner. Pick up flares and Uzi clips from the pedestals in the room off to one side and then exit the building. Cross the sandy area and approach the door between the two huge status to end the level (and at this point Lara uses the amulet in the slot to open the huge door between the statues - only to fall into a trap laid by Von Croy...).
