As Lara reads the inscription on the Ankh we see the events unfolding between Horus and Seth: Vanquished, Seth allows himself to be killed and entombed deep within the pyramid that Lara has just raided. Suddenly, Lara's train of thought is interrupted by the unwelcome reappearance of her servant. He demands that she hand over the ankh, but she's not a co-operative lady...

Lara reads on and as she completes the translation of the ancient curse there is a huge explosion in the tomb, throwing both her and her attacker to the ground. Lara picks herself up first and turns the tables, only to be surprised by the arrival of a Land Rover (not a Jeep, as will become clear in a later movie!)...

You start this level by watching your servant flee to the safety of the covered Land Rover. Parked nearby is an open model and you should also be able to see at least one set of goodies lying in the sand. Unfortunately, there's a bit of business to complete before it's safe to fill your backpack.

There are seven attackers running around outside (thankfully, they generally appear one after the other). They are easily despatched using the shotgun but you can have more fun with pistols, sideflipping and running around to avoid their returning fire. You're likely to need a medikit, due to the numbers involved but eventually peace should return to the desert and you can go about clearing up the mess...

You should be able to find: a set of car keys, 3 sets of Uzi clips, 2 small medikits and 1 large medikit. Not all are lying on the sand, but most are. To the right of the entrance where you started the level is a cave. Jump in and light a flare to find a deeper cave in the sahdows at the back. This is Secret #1 - 3 boxes of shotgun shells (you'll need to pick up each one separately). Exit this cave and check out the one on the opposite side of the entrance...

No goodies inside here, but if you stand at the entrance and make a slightly angled standing jump-grab towards the rock wall outside you'll be able to grab the edge of a ledge that juts out. Haul up and make your way over to the area above the entrance opening. This is Secret #2 - 2 boxes of shotgun shells, a small medikit and Uzi clips. Now head for the open Land Rover...

The hardest thing about the Land Rover is the (realistic!) sloppy cornering - that'll worry you later on. For now work out how to go forwards and backwards, changing direction only when the Land Rover is stopped. You can get in the vehicle from either side but it can be tricky to get out as the trigger for that is also the brake key.

With the Land Rover more or less under control it's time to chase after the vehicle being driven by your traitorous servant - who is also chucking occasional grenades at you. Avoid the grenades and don't get sidetracked by the apparent passagesthat appear on both sides of the canyon - these are for people choosing to follow the closed vehicle on foot and there's nothing inside of interest.

In the second open area Lara's appearance is greeted with gunfire. Steer the Land Rover around and run over the two goons, then head down the exit slope (to the left of where you entered the area). A little further on there's a deep chasm in the road with a set of spikes at the bottom. Your enemies jump this and you can too, but it's better to drive up the slope on the right, run over the goon standing at the top and park up.

Return down the slope and safety drop into the pit. Under the slight overhang on the right hand side is a cave that's just big enough to crawl into (this is a climbing wall - you'll need to let go and immediately grab and forward crawl into the gap, otherwise Lara will remain in climbing mode). This is Secret #3 - small and large medikits and super grenades, waiting for you where the crawlspace opens out. Return to the Land Rover.

Drive down the slope on the left hand canyon wall and pick up the trail of your servant once more. Drive into the cave on the left, down a slope, up a hill and then flatten the gunman at the top. Drive into the next area and stop quickly! You've arrived at the edge of a deep canyon and the way forwards is treacherous. Steer carefully around the rim of the drop anti-clockwise and run over another gunman on the opposite side.

Drive through the next cave to the end of the level.
