Las Vegas at night. Lara is due to make the keynote speech at the Annual Conference of The Hunter/Gatherer Association in the Three Kings Hotel and Conference Centre. She can't sleep, but it's not nerves keeping
her awake, it's the silence... With a start she gets to her feet: this is Las Vegas - the City that
never sleeps - and silence is a very bad sign...
We join Lara in her Three Kings hotel room bathroom where she's just finished washing the last of the sleep from her eyes... it's best to be fully alert! Open the door into the bedroom. Check out the Godzilla versus King Kong movie on TV - is this a hint of things to come? Open the closet door near the bathroom and you discover 8 shotgun shells, a large medikit, a small medikit and a box of flares.
Open the door near the windows to get a breath of fresh air and admire the Vegas skyline. Looking around the balcony, notice another terrace to the right. Looking closer at the terrace, you can see a couple of Vegas hoods brandishing weapons in the room and a climbing ladder on the wall outside. Go back into the hotel room and find the shotgun and 4 shotgun shells on the ledge of the small window. Press the button under the TV with the Elvis impersonator to get a vision of Jeeves. Exit the hotel room through the remaining door, which opens as you approach.
The doors in the hallway are locked and you don't have the key, so shoot out the window in the hall. Looking around, spot a crevice on the right wall, and takes a standing jump with grab to the crack. Shimmy left along the crack, and climb down and sideways on the climbing ladder and then climb up to the window ledge. Notice the Vegas goons running around in the hotel room, and get out the trusty shotgun. Next, do a simple jump to the terrace, and shoot the 2 goons in the hotel room.
Pick up 6 shotgun shells strewn across the floor. Find 2 more shotgun shells and a small medikit near the dead bodies. Push the button near the red chairs to open the bathroom door. It's Jeeves! Lara's trusty butler has been held hostage in the bathroom. Exploring the bathroom, find a small medikit on the dresser and a hotel key in the shower. The door to the hallway will open as Lara approaches. Use the hotel key to open the locked doors in the hall.
Enter the upper floor of the hotel atrium, which has a huge gold sculpture at the center. Going along the left walkway, enter the room with the Bird Monster in a large cage with Jeeves trailing behind. Near the cages with the leopards, find 2 shotgun shells and a box of flares on a crate. A Las Vegas goon shows up and needs to be taught a lesson. After shooting the baddie, climb up the crates near the front of the cage and do simple jumps around the walkways at the top of the cage with the Bird Monster. At the back of the cage, find 4 shotgun shells and a small medikit.
Explore the upper walkway around the sculpture to find an elevator that does not work, a red carpeted room with stairs with a locked door. Not much else to do here. Look for the large medikit at the top of the sculpture on the opposite side to the elevator. You can bet Lara's life by taking a long running jump with grab to the sculpture from the ledge closest to the large medikit. After picking up the medikit, do a safety drop over the right hand side and climb down as far as you can go (shimmy sideways as necessary). When you can't go any further, drop and slide to the floor.
Landing on the floor triggers two Vegas hoods with muffled guns. Shoot them and pick up 4 shotgun shells and a small medikit from the bodies. Walk around the statue to the pool side of it and climb up a short way to retrieve the Uzi clips on a ledge. Return to floor level.Walk around and notice the grated trap door with water underneath in the floor near the sculpture. Enter the room with the pool. Notice the panel near the double doors. Notice the gate in the pool.
Swim to the bottom of the pool and pick up another hotel key. When you surface and climb out again you will need to deal with another Las Vegas hood by the double doors. Exit the pool room to the area with the jungle decor by the statue next door.
Use the hotel key to open the double doors. Notice the great trophies! Take the passageway to the right and as you approach the bars by the T-Rex, one of those Vegas mobsters shows up. After killing the baddie, pick up 2 sets of shotgun shells near the bars. From the double doors, take the other passage, kill another Vegas mobster and pick up 2 shotgun shells and a small medikit.
Return to the statue and find the entrance to the Cell Block Rock nightclub. Continue into the room with the piano. Pick up a small medikit and flares from the floor around the tables. On either side of the entrance to the room with the tables are two alcoves with push switches. Push both switches to raise the curtain on the stage. This triggers 4 guys with black pipes. After killing the 4 baddies, pick up 2 shotgun shells from the bodies.
Pick up 2 shotgun shells on the stage which triggers 2 more of the men with pipes. Now climb up the left hand stack of crates to the crate below the higher swinging crate. Sidestep all the way to the left of the crate. Use jump with grab to safely climb up on the very edge of the crate. Use a simple jump to the high ledge at the back of the stage to pick up 4 shotgun shells. Safety drop off the high ledge to the crate below.
Go to the back wall of the stage and notice the 2 central crates. They are grey and white while the other crates are tan and white. Pull the two grey and white crates to fill the gaps in the long line of crates at the center of the stage. This causes the trap door at the back of the stage to open. Climb down through the trap door to the bottom.
Look for grey and white crates. Pull the first grey and white crate as far as you can and climb over it. Turn and push it further along. Pull the next grey and white crate, climb over it and push it further along. Pull out the third grey and white crate, climb over it and find that you uncovered 4 Uzi clips. Push the Uzi clip crate away, so that you can pull out the last grey and white crate to uncover Secret #1 - the Gold Coins.
Climb out of the pit and return to the gold sculpture area. On the way, kill one of the Vegas mobsters and pick up a small medikit and 2 Uzi clips from the body. Find the elevator behind the now open doors in the area with the sculpture.
Flip the switch by the elevator to make it come down. Flip the switch again for the elevator to go up and quickly run onto the elevator. Find yourself about midway up the sculpture. Jump down to the lower ledge and take a diagonal simple jump to the gold ledge near the metal blades. Walk through the metal blades and pick up 4 Uzi clips. Walk to the center of the metal blades and take a simple jump to the black and white ledge. Pick up the large medikit and the Door Circuit.
From the black and white ledge, line up with the slightly sloped gold ledge beyond the metal blades. Jump backwards and then take two further (walking) steps backwards. Now do a long running jump to the gold ledge. Take a running diagonal jump to the ledge near the elevator.
Flip the switch to make the elevator go down. Take a standing jump with grab to the climbing ladder in the elevator shaft. Climb up, light a flare and head round the corner. Jump over the metal blades in the pit in the floor and climb up. A man with a pipe appears and needs to be dealt with before you can pick up the 2 shotgun shells in the hall. Find the opening facing the sculpture, and take a diagonal long running jump to the gold ledge near the metal blades. Return to the elevator ledge and use the elevator to return to the bottom of the sculpture.
In the room with the pool, use the door circuit to open the double doors. Immediately, run across the road and climb up to the high ledge in the wall just outside. A T-Rex roars his welcome on seeing you again and explains why Las Vegas is so empty.... You can shoot the T-Rex from the opening in the wall - it's not too tricky! Now run down the street ahead (Main Street) to the end and turn right. In the small hall, pick up 4 automatic pistol clips and the automatic pistols. Shoot the man with a pipe that suddenly appears.
Return to the area by the double doors and pick up a box of flares. Note the CNet vans (sponsors toys - you can run straight through them!). Wander down the street until you find Bartoli's TV store. Near Bartoli's store in the street is the elevator junction. Pick it up and immediately run to the safety of the TV store. Another T-Rex is looking for a Lara lunch. Run out of the store to lure the T-Rex and then leap back shooting from the safety of the store.
After the T-Rex is dead, pick up the large medikit and a box of flares in the store. Shoot another man with a pipe, and then find the T-Rex exhibit hall (down the slope near Bartoli's). In the corner on the floor of the T-Rex cage, pick up Secret #2 - the Gold Bars. Return to the sculpture.
Climb up the sculpture directly across from the doorway to the T-Rex exhibit hall. Climb up and sideways to the left, up and to the left until you reach the flat ledge where you picked up the 2 Uzi clips much earlier in the game. Walk to the side of the ledge nearest the T-Rex hall. Use a simple jump to the far side of the higher slanted block. Slide down and grab the edge. Shimmy to the right. Climb up to the top of the sculpture and then to the left until you can haul yourself back onto the top of the sculpture.
Now take a long running jump to the ledge by the plain wall. At the top of the room with the sculpture, walk over to the entrance by the Bird Monster hall. Look down by the bottom of the sculpture and you will see the trap door with the water underneath it. Line up a jump to the trap door below. Using a swan dive and adding a roll to do some somersaults on the way down, dive into the water below the trap door. Swim around the bottom and collect the Uzis and about 10 Uzi clips. Swim towards the door in the underwater tunnel and it will open into the pool. If you need to return after getting some air, you can return down the underwater tunnel.
Climb out of the water and repeat the climb back up the sculpture to the top. The grate is now gone from the red carpet room. Enter the room and run down the slope and stairs. At the midpoint of the stairs, turn around and shoot the man with the pipe. Pick up the 4 Uzi clips in the alcove near the bottom of the slope. Go down to the bottom of the stairs and find the alcove with 4 automatic pistol clips. Walk out on the ledge to view the sculpture, but watch your back for another pipe thug. Return back up to the top floor and find the elevator.
Use the elevator junction in the electrical panel near the elevator. You will hear the elevator running. Flip the switch and then quickly ride up the elevator to the top floor. Immediately after getting out of the elevator, take a left and run up the hallway, jumping over the metal blades. That thumping noise you can hear is the escaped Bird Monster - and it's not happy!
Take a left as soon as you get outside and look in the corner for the Uzi clips. Run (don't walk) into the metal blades and pick up the large medikit. Immediately sideflip right and pick up the 4 Uzi clips. If you are quick enough, you will have it all picked up before the Bird Monster jumps you.
Now get past the Bird Monster and run back down the hall towards the elevator, jumping over the metal blades. Continue running and jumping past the elevator and follow the hall until it ends in the Bird Monster's cage. Quickly pick up the Gold Skull in the middle of the cage. Avoid the Bird Monster again and run back to the elevator.
Pull the switch on the elevator to make it go down. (If the Bird Monster hammers you, have medikits as needed.) Quickly run onto the roof of the elevator. Ride the elevator down to the bottom. Now climb up the climbing ladder. As you get closer to the top, you will see an opening behind you. Climb to within one block's width from the top of the ladder and use a backwards jump to land on the ledge. Pick up 8 shotgun shells and a large medikit.
Walk to the other end of the small room and see a climbing ladder over a blue floor. Climb down and wait for the Bird Monster to move away before dropping to the floor below. You need to get the elevator back up to kill the Bird Monster, so drop to the floor and run over and flip the elevator switch. Now take the Bird Monster on a merry chase across the roof outside while the elevator comes back up. Return to the safety of the elevator, and shoot the Bird Monster at your leisure. Just run out of the elevator a little bit to lure the Bird Monster back, then retreat to the safety of the elevator to take pot shots at it.
And that's it! Las Vegas may not invite Lara back, but it's citizens can sleep safely again...
